Nvidia et le KAIST (Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology) annoncent un investissement conjoint de 300 M$ pour établir un centre de recherche IA commun en Corée du Sud (Tech in Asia et ETNews, 24 juillet 2026). L'accord intervient dans un contexte de rapprochement industriel appuyé entre Nvidia et les grands groupes coréens (Samsung, SK, Hyundai, Naver - voir le round-table du 22 juillet aux États-Unis).
Notre lecture
La Corée cochait déjà deux cases dans la pile Nvidia : la mémoire HBM (SK Hynix, Samsung) et la production auto/robotique. Il manquait le maillon recherche et talents. Un centre KAIST institutionnalise ce dernier - training, benchmarks locaux, pipeline étudiants Nvidia-native. C'est la contrepartie géographique du « Nvidia AI Factory » : la Corée devient un hub de la souveraineté IA « alignée US », par contraste avec le stack chinois qui s'autonomise (Zhenwu, CXMT). Petit montant en absolu, gros signal en positionnement.
