According to ETNews (July 16, 2026), Xiaomi's "intern robot" program is expanding its tasks in an electric vehicle factory of the group, with a reported success rate of 98% on the tested operations. The Korean title (샤오미 '인턴' 로봇, 전기차 공장서 업무 확대…작업 성공률 98%) frames the story from an industrial operations perspective, not a demo one.

Our analysis

This is the direct continuation of the embodied-foundation-race thread: Xiaomi had launched Robotics-U0 (unified embodied model 38B, open source - publi #1139 of 07/15). Here we are no longer talking about a model, but about deployment in a production site internal to the group. The 98% is a communication figure - it should be read with caution - but the important thing is elsewhere: Xiaomi is using its own workshop as the first customer. It's the same mechanism as Tesla with Optimus, or Toyota with Woven City (#1153). The humanoid does not need an external business plan: the parent factory amortizes.
