LimX Dynamics posts a Figure-grade humanoid demo: China's embodied field gets another entrant

The China humanoid pack is now shipping demos at Silicon Valley pace. The signal isn't a video - it's the cadence.

Shenzhen-based humanoid startup LimX Dynamics has released a new demo of its "Oli" robot: a 3-minute uninterrupted household-chores video that Pandaily (Jul 16, 2026) describes as placing China humanoid robotics on par with Silicon Valley's Figure AI. LimX is a spinout of the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen) and closed a $200M funding round in the run-up to the demo.

Our take

The China humanoid pack - Unitree, Xpeng, Xiaomi, UBTech, and again LimX - is now producing demo material at Figure- and 1X-comparable pace. The signal isn't the video: it's the cadence, the diversity of teams, and now a $200M cheque behind at least one of them. Where Silicon Valley bets on a few well-capitalized robot-plus-model plays, China's field is running more parallel bets on cheaper hardware and rapid iteration. That's the same pattern that reshaped EV manufacturing. What we still can't tell from a demo reel is whether these teams have a durable model layer or a rented one.

What to watch

• Whether LimX turns its $200M into a shipped customer platform rather than another YouTube-first demo.
• Cross-check with the embodied-foundation-race fil: is Oli consuming Xiaomi Robotics-U0, Nvidia GR00T, or a proprietary stack?
• Unit economics - LimX has the capital to price aggressively; a sub-$30k Oli changes the industrial picture, a $200k unit doesn't.
